3 NegOcc towns get P6.1-M project funds

BACOLOD CITY — The provincial government of Negros Occidental on Wednesday released a total of PHP6.1 million project funds to three municipalities.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the turnover of checks to officials in a ceremony held at the Capitol.

Pontevedra town received PHP5 million for the improvement of its Multi-Purpose Government Center while Valladolid town got a total of PHP1 million for its four barangays that will receive PHP250,000 each.

Batuan was granted financial assistance for the construction of a perimeter fence; Bagumbayan, for the construction of an open canal; Lacaron, for the renovation of its Day Care Center; and Sagua Banua, for the concrete paving of its basketball court.

San Enrique, Barangay Poblacion received PHP100,000 for the purchase of filling materials for a barangay site.

On Sept. 7, nine villages from two local government units received a total of PHP3.35 million in checks from the provincial government for the implementation of various projects.

Five villages in Hinigaran town, which is under the Fifth District, received a total assistance of PHP1.350 million.

Recipients were Barangays II, I-Poblacion, Baga-as, Anahaw, and Nanunga, with projects, including the concreting of a barangay mini-fish wharf and seawall protection, the construction of a multi-purpose pavement, the installation of streetlights, the rehabilitation of a health center, and the extension of covered court roofing.

Also turned over were a total of PHP2 million in checks to officials of Barangay 3, 8, Camansi, and Camugao of Kabankalan City.

The assistance will be used for their respective projects, including the construction of concrete fence and drainage system, riprapping of drainage canal, rehabilitation of multi-purpose building, and enclosure of covered court.

Last month, 23 barangays in Negros Occidental received a total of PHP7.4 million worth of financial assistance for its projects from the provincial government.

Three barangays of Manapla town were given a total of PHP1.5 million for the renovation of their respective barangay halls.

Also released were a total of PHP5.9 million financial assistance for the implementation of various projects in 20 barangays. (PNA)
