LPA to affect Mindanao Saturday

By Catherine Teves/Philippine News Agency

MANILA — Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are possible in the Caraga and Davao regions due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) affecting Mindanao, the weather bureau reported on Saturday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.

Luzon and Visayas will have light to moderate winds blowing from southeast to southwest while Mindanao will also experience light to moderate winds from south to southwest.

The country’s coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.

In its 24-hour public weather forecast, PAGASA also noted that some of the expected thunderstorms may be severe enough to cause either flash floods or landslides.
