China, PH to further strengthen drug control cooperation

MANILA — China and Philippines have vowed to implement more effective measures to combat drug crimes, as they further strengthen cooperation in drug control in every field.

“The two sides will further strengthen the real-time information exchange, close case coordination, timely joint combat operations,” the Chinese embassy in the Philippines said in a statement released on Tuesday.

It said China will promote drug rehabilitation and other areas of cooperation to reduce the demand for drugs.

China likewise will further intensify the Philippine anti-drug training, and provide drug investigation, test equipment and technical support in drug control.

The embassy issued the statement after the Senate conducted an inquiry on Monday on the 604 kilos of illegal drugs shipment from China.

It said authorities immediately intercepted shabu smuggled into the Philippines on May 25, 2017, noting such kind of law enforcement cooperation efficiency “ensures the success of this action, and shall be praised no matter where in the world.”

“The action prevents drug getting into Philippines, and fully proves the two countries’ law enforcement agency has strong determination to fight against drug smuggling, action without hesitation and efficient cooperation spirit,” it added.

Noting that drug is human being’s common enemy, the Chinese government has adhered to the strict prohibition’s combating narcotics-related crimes.

“As the new Philippine government, China holds ‘zero tolerance’ attitude towards drugs in and out (of) China. Drug criminals, regardless of their nationalities, have to receive severe sanctions according to law,” it added. (PNA)
