LTO to conduct lifestyle check on all its officials, employees

CLARK, PAMPANGA – In adherence to the anti-corruption drive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and in compliance with the strict guidance of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante recently ordered the conduct of a lifestyle check on all LTO officials and employees.

In memorandum signed yesterday, 29 July 2019, Asec. Galvante directed all officials and employees of the LTO to comply, adhere, report and submit all necessary documents, to include their latest Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), and Income Tax Return (ITR), as may be required by the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Office of the Ombudsman.

“Ayaw na ayaw ng Pangulong Duterte at ni Secretary Tugade ng korapsyon. Corrupt practices will not be tolerated under my watch. Ating binubuksan ang LTO sa anumang nararapat na pagsisiyasat. This serves as a reminder to all LTO officials and employees to remain straight and honest public servants,” Asec. Galvante said.

“We fully embrace transparency, just as we fully exert our efforts to rid the LTO with corrupt officials and employees,” Galvante added.

The LTO Chief likewise encouraged the public to immediately report irregularities they witness or experience.

“We consider the public as our partners in in promoting good governance. Huwag po kayong mahiya o matakot na mag-ulat kapag may nasaksihan o naranasan kayong hindi nararapat. We are ready to listen and take appropriate action,” Asec. Galvante said.

Under the Duterte administration, the LTO has launched a number of programs to counter corrupt practices and “fixed” processes, such as the establishment of an online appointment and payment system for registration fees of new motor vehicles and motorcycles, livestreaming of bidding and procurement processes, and the establishment of its own plate-making facility with robotic embossing machine.
