The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced construction of the new Teachers Education Heritage Campus Laboratory of the Philippine Normal University (PNU) in Taft Avenue, Manila City.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, a ground-breaking ceremony headed by DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) Assistant Director Judy B. Cordon and officials of PNU was held for the construction of the new building that will provide additional classrooms and facilities for students and teachers of the state university.

“We will make sure we finish this project by June 2020 to provide better learning environment for the institution considered as the National Center for Teacher Education,” said Secretary Villar.

PhP159 million was allocated in the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for the implementation of the six (6) storey building with roof deck and basement for the Teachers Education and Heritage Campus Laboratory.

In his report to Sec. Villar, DPWH NCR Director Ador Canlas said that construction is also on-going for the first phase of the PNU Convention and Training Center (PNUCTC) worth PhP226 million.

Started in September 2018, the 12-storey PNUCTC building is set for completion by April 2020 to serve as venue for academic events and programs.
