DepEd eyes rabies education in K to 12 curriculum

In time for the celebration of the National World Rabies Day, the Department of Education (DepEd) will be introducing rabies education in the K to 12 curriculum. The Department of Health revealed that in the year 2018 alone, there have been 276 deaths due to rabies and 1.2 million animal bites cases. Rabies is a viral disease that can be transferred through scratching and biting. The bitten victim could die in 4 days. Including the rabies education in the curriculum will give children ample knowledge on how to take care of their pets, and what to do when bitten. Kids are then expected to share the knowledge to their parents. And with the help of different government offices, the concerted efforts could bring the country down to zero rabies.
