Cavite fisherfolks to get 500 bancas

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Cavite fisherfolks are set to receive 500 fishing boats after farmers received fertilizers and farm tools for the agricultural sector’s livelihood program under the Department of Agriculture (DA).

DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol made the commitment on Tuesday when he graced the Agri Trade Fair and Exhibits at the provincial auditorium in this city.

Piñol was welcomed by Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla, Provincial Agriculturist Lolita Perena and Lilian C. Gacia, director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to the three-day agri-trade event.

Lorna Avinante, administrative officer IV of the Provincial Agriculturist Office, said the 500 fishing boats will be distributed in the nine cities and municipalities along Cavite fishing areas.

Around 1,500 farmers, fisherfolks, and small and medium entrepreneurs participated in the trade fair where they exhibited their agricultural products and farm harvests.

The trade exhibit also showcased the agri-sector and SMEs livelihood component products such as bottled sardines, peanut butter, honey and specially-packed peanuts, dried fish, seafood among others. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
