Palace won’t meddle in term-sharing for speaker

Malacañang stated that it is all up to the legislative body whether to sustain the term sharing agreement on House speakership. The word came after House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano signaled his intention to bring the issue to Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s attention. The Chief Executive had an early statement that the matter falls under the discretion of the Congress. Under the agreement, Cayetano would be the leader of the Lower House for 15 months. Marinduque solon Rep. Lord Allan Velasco would serve the remaining 20.
