Investment in the Philippines skyrocketed to PHP764.7 billion

The amount of investment pledges in the Philippines in January to September 2019 doubled to PHP764.7 billion from last year’s PHP372.9 billion, the Board of Investments (BOI) reported. Domestic sources made up the PHP524.9 billion, and foreign investors infused PHP239.9 billion. Top investors in the country included Singapore (PHP170 billion), South Korea (PHP34.1 billion), the Netherlands (PHP9.2 billion), Thailand (PHP8.6 billion), Japan (PHP6 billion), and United States (PHP2.4 billion). Commerce secretary and BOI chairperson Ramon Lopez remarked that the eminent investment level in the Philippines reflects the continuous growth of enterprises in the country.
