Road widening project in South Cotabato done this year: DPWH

MANILA — A wider road in Polomok, South Cotabato will soon be serving more motorists as the PHP239-million Marbel-Makar Road widening project is now 76 percent completed.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 12 OIC-Director Basir Ibrahim reported that the two road widening projects along an 8-kilometer portion of the said thoroughfare in Polomok is set to be completed this year.

“We are 6 percent ahead of schedule and we hope that before the end of 2017, our aim to widen the road from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes will be fully-accomplished,” he said in a statement.

Ibrahim added that the undertaking would benefit travelers going to the Port of General Santos City which was expected to increase during Christmas holidays.

The project is part of the road widening program being implemented all over Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos City) Region by the DPWH Regional Office 12.

“These widening projects are part of our pursuit in establishing quality arterial roads in compliance with the policy instruction of DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar,” he added. (PNA)
