The costs of onion and garlic soar following the limited supply of said vegetables. The Department of Agriculture attributes the narrow availability of said spices to the following reasons. First, the public consumed extensively said vegetables during the 2019 holiday season, resulting in reduced number in the marketplace. Second, the present is not yet the harvest season of the two dry-season crops.
Soon, a total of 35,000 metric tons of onion arrives in the Philippines. By then, the price of the vegetable declines.
