Customs NAIA seized P821-M worth of prohibited commodities for 2019

In line with Bureau of Customs core mandate of border protection, Bureau of Customs-NAIA has intercepted prohibited commodities with an estimated value of P821.15 million for 2019.

From the P821.15 million, P430.8 million were from two seized aircrafts and P308.3 million from illegal drugs. From 2018 to 2019, a total of P672 million worth of drugs were intercepted.

The remaining P82.05 million consisted of intercepted meat and meat products without Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) import clearance, intercepted illegal wildlife species from illegal wildlife trade, used cellphones without National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) permit, unregistered beauty products which were found harmful, and guns and ammunition without proper permits.

This achievement of Port of NAIA was given recognition last February 7 during the Bureau of Customs 118th Founding Anniversary at South Harbor, Port Area, Manila, for successfully executing apprehensions of various prohibited commodities including illegal drugs recorded in 2019.

The recognition was given to Port of NAIA through the District Collector of the Port, District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan, by Department of Finance Secretay Carlos Dominguez III and Bureau of Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero in Bureau of Customs, OCOM Grounds.

This 2020, the port has already seized P29.5 million worth of illegal goods from different warehouses in NAIA and vows to continuously protect the borders against illegal and prohibited commodities. (Press Release)
