Espenido can seek protective assistance from gov’t – Palace

Malacañang has assured the President will not let anyone fear for his/her safety, following Pol. Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido’s statement his life may be in danger due to his involvement in the narcolist issue.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Espenido’s fear of safety may be reasonable and founded but that he can seek protection from the authorities.

“If that is the fear of Col. Espenido, then we cannot stop him from entertaining such apprehension, but the President will not allow anyone to be hurt or to be harmed outside of what is allowed by the law, outside of legal process or methods sanctioned by law,” Panelo said.

“If Col. Espenido would want to ask for any protective measure from the government, then he can so request,” he added.

Panelo said the Chief Executive’s trust on Espenido remains. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
