NCRPO on red alert for EDSA revolution 34th anniv

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will set a red alert status as part of its preparation for the 34th anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution tomorrow.

The Quezon Memorial Circle will be used as staging area of the Civil Disturbance Management for deployment purposes.

Government buildings such as the DA, DAR, DILG, NHA, and PHILCOA were marked as areas of concern.

The ABS-CBN compound, Welcome Rotonda, and Sitio San Roque were also included as marked areas.

Meanwhile, the police control points will be at EDSA cor. Aurora Blvd., EDSA cor. P. Tuazon, EDSA cor. Ortigas Ave., and Boni Serrano cor. Katipunan Ave.

NCRPO Chief Debold Sinas clarified that protests are not prohibited, but said rallyists must get permits from their local governments if protests will be staged in other cities in the Mega-city.

“Tomorrow, nandiyan sila sa Freedom Park, mag-iipon at magkita-kita. Habang hindi iyon nakadistorbo sa general public, hindi nakadistorbo sa traffic ay hindi po sila idi-disperse,” Sinas said.

The police force also said it is ready if pro and anti-government groups clash during protests.

Meanwhile, the Police has not yet monitored security threats in the country.
