DFA to repatriate Filipinos in Macau

Preparations are underway for the repatriation of 148 Filipinos in Macau. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said necessary measures are being undertaken to bring back said Filipinos who are holding tourist visas.

“They just have to board the plane just like any repatriation… Sa Macau, ano lang naman talaga hindi nman sila persons under investigation eh (In Macau, they are not (considered)persons under investigation),” DFA Usec. Sarah Lou Arriola clarifies.

The Department of Health (DOH) says the repatriates from Macau will undergo screening and home quarantine since the facilities in New Clark City will not be used.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr. tweeted his intention to repatriate Filipinos in Hong Kong who were reportedly sacked from their jobs due to COVID-19.

No travel ban will be implemented on Iran, Italy, Japan, and Singapore despite the documented community-wide transmissions. DOH Sec. Francisco Duque III explained the decision was made since the said countries have been classified as medium risk. – Report from Sandra Samala
