Palace addresses transport problems in ‘enhanced community quarantine’

Malacaῆang is addressing the transportation problem faced by workers, particularly health workers, who are exempted from the “enhanced community quarantine.”

“We immediately communicated such concern to the Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and the latter swiftly directed the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to bring out their army trucks to ferry those who are stranded, particularly health workers and other individuals exempted from the ban, so they can be safely brought to their places of work and their homes after work,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo shared.

Panelo said the problem has been relayed to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and its Chairman Danilo Lim “who gave an immediate positive response.”

Panelo added Lim has already coordinated with bus companies and some of them have already offered to help.

The Palace assured they will continue to monitor and asses the situation to immediately address problems amid the crisis brought by COVID-19. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
