Pres. Duterte places PH under state of calamity

President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the Philippines under state of calamity by virtue of Proclamation No. 929 to expedite and maximize the government’s access to necessary funds in preventing the spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (CoVID-19).

The declaration is effective for 6 months unless lifted on an earlier date.

All government agencies and local government units (LGUs) in the country are expected to cooperate, and monitor the public’s adherence to the guidelines along with other sectors against COVID-19.

In memorandum circular no. 77, signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, the price control measures for emergency medicines and supplies, selected agriculture and fishery commodities will be strictly implemented to prevent price manipulation.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the given guidelines are part of the administration’s strides to protect the public from the current health crisis.
