Medical evacuation flight crashes at NAIA

An Agusta WW24 aircraft with registry number RP-C5880 has reportedly encountered an accident at Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (NAIA) Runway 06/24 at around 8:00 pm today, March 29. As per the flight’s manifest, the aircraft was carrying eight (8) persons on board (6 crew and 2 passengers).

The medical evacuation flight, bound for Tokyo/Haneda in Japan, reportedly encountered a problem, which resulted in a fire while it was rolling for takeoff on Runway 06. NAIA’s operator, Manila International Airport Authority’s (MIAA) Rescue and Firefighting Division is now on the scene. The Philippine Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center (PARCC) is gathering additional information about the accident.

Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) chief investigator Rainier Baculinao has been dispatched to help determine the cause of the accident.
