ALS, out-of-school learners can now use DepEd Commons

Aside from formal students, Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners of the Department of Education (DepEd), as well as out-of-school youth, can now use DepEd Commons in support of alternative learning modalities amid the enhanced community quarantine.

Based on current data, there are now more than 2.6 million individuals using the said online educational platform since its soft launch last March 14.

“In all other areas where there are signals coming from the telecommunications company, all of these schools are being readied now to have access online so that we could provide them with the appropriate technology and platform that they would be needing,” DepEd USec. Alain Del Pascua said.

The DepEd has assured the public it will continuously improve the online educational platform to be accessible and useful to all learners.

The education department has encouraged learners with internet connection to utilize DepEd Commons so that learning continues despite the month-long suspension of classes.

Meanwhile, the DepEd on Monday released the guidelines to regional directors for action request by LGUs to use DepEd schools and engage its personnel in activities related to COVID-19.

There are already a number of personnel allowed to volunteer, as well as schools to be used to accommodate COVID-19 patients. ##
