PRRD to announce decision on ECQ extension soon

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo and National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. assured President Rodrigo Duterte will soon publicize his decision if the enhanced community quarantine will be extended.

Secretary Galvez in a public briefing told everyone to wait for the decision of President Duterte whether he will lift the ECQ or not.

Panelo, on the other hand, said the Chief Executive has been seriously considering the situation and the suggestions of each sector.

IATF Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles also assured the welfare of the public will prevail when the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases decides on the extension of the enhanced community quarantine.

The IATF is set to discuss today the said matter during their virtual briefing.

“Hindi ko po masasabi ngayon kung kailan nila ia-announce ang desisyon tungkol sa ECQ, pero makakasiguro kayo na sa desisyon na ito, papakinggan po ng IATF at ni Pangulong Duterte ang lahat ng mga experts bago makarating sa napaka- importanteng desisyon na ito ( I cannot say now when the decision will be announced but we assure the IATF and President Duterte will listen to experts before we arrive at a very important decision),” Nograles said

Meanwhile, Nograles reiterated DTI’s announcement that member companies of theConfederation of Wearable Exporters of the Philippines (CONWEP) will now “start the local production of medical-grade PPE coveralls for healthcare workers.”

“Raw materials for these will be shipped in by this week and the roll out of production at the garment factories will immediately start after the Holy Week. Once operational, these factories will be able to produce 10,000 PPEs a day,” Nograles said.

Nograles also recognized the heroism of health workers and has warned against those who discriminate the said contemporary heroes. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
