The molecular laboratory of Marikina City is ready for COVID-19 testing.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Friday has visited the laboratory and says
it is “one of the best laboratories” he has seen.
“Mukhang magandang maganda ang pagkakagawa, maayos ang layout, talagang sinunod (It seems it has been constructed well, the layout is organized. They really complied),” Duque observes.
“Humihingi lang ako ng pasensya kung nagkaroon ng kaunting antala, pero ang importante nasunod, ang importante nasiguro ‘yung biosafety, biosecurity protocols (I apologize if there was a slight delay. What is important is they complied, biosafety and biosecurity protocols were ensured),” he adds.
The equipment and two PCR machines have been installed and calibrated in the facility. A result of one specimen can be identified within two to three hours through the machines.
The molecular diagnostic laboratory of the city can process 400 to 500 tests daily.
Its proficiency tests for its technicians and staff are being completed before accreditation to operate can be granted
this Tuesday.
The Marikina LGU has made an agreement with Antipolo and San Mateo, Rizal to conduct the testing of swab samples taken from the areas in the said facility.
Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro offers their help to other LGUs and are “offering the template” to “put up various testing centers in different parts of the country.”
