The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has cautioned the public not to believe every viral post in social media.
An audio message in Facebook has gone viral announcing that there will be a total lockdown and declaration of martial law. It also urged the public to stock up until April 30.
DILG Spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya has stressed that it is fake news and urged the public to verify the source of information to avoid falling prey to fake news.
Meanwhile, the DILG has also released an advisory to Local Government Units (LGUs) to stop the implementation of window hours in market places, groceries, and pharmacies because it causes crowding and defeats the purpose of social distancing. The agency also encourages LGUs to administer mobile markets so that residents will not have to go out of their homes to buy basic commodities. – Report from Patrick de Jesus
