DepEd now preparing a Learning Continuity Plan

The Department of Education (DepEd) is currently in the process of preparing its Learning Continuity Plan for the upcoming school year.

DepEd USec. Nepomuceno Malaluan said the plan is “not yet finalized” but will be presented to the IATF and to the public as soon as they have “finalized everything.”

If travel restrictions will continue to prevail in the coming months, the DepEd may opt to utilize radio and television in areas that cannot conduct online classes. The DepEd is set to announce this week the schedule of the opening of the school year.

Meanwhile, there are now 600 responses on the national survey of the DepEd which will take a significant role in the plan making for school year 2020 to 2021.

“The results of that will not necessarily be the binding basis for the decision but rather these will be inputs to us in the same manner that we are consulting our own units,” Malaluan said.

Amid the cancellation of graduation ceremonies due to COVID-19, the education department may allow applications of public schools to hold online graduations. Graduation rites are originally held every April 13 to 17 but have been cancelled this year due to the extension of the enhanced community quarantine. ## Report from Mica Joson
