Filipino creative team launches children’s story on COVID-19

A children’s story e-book about the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines has been launched. The e-book entitled “In the town of Kamayanan and the Legends of the Dancing Hands” published by a Filipino creative team is about emphasizing the significance of personal hygiene and unity amid the COVID-19 crisis.

The story shows a community gripped with fear and panic when the antagonist Covully, a representation of COVID-19, arrives but the community succeeds against the pandemic with the help of the “dancing hands” or proper hand washing.

“We were able to put (this) together hoping that there’s appropriate, fun and very hopeful material that parents can use when they try to process the situation (with) their own children,” Creatives member Armand Sazon has shared.

According to Sazon, it is one way for children to understand the current situation. Both old and young generation are represented in the story and they work as one to fight the pandemic.

The team plans to expand the story on Facebook and publish a Tagalog version.

Meanwhile, the public can access it for free on their Instagram account. – Report from Sandra Samala
