Palace updates on COVID-19 measures, other matters

At the daily Palace Presser on Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque shared the Philippines ranks sixth among Asian countries with high level of financial strength based on the study of a prestigious institution. He also gave updates on different matters.

Aside from President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to make the payment of PhilHealth premium contributions voluntary for OFWs, the Palace announced the five million families to be added to the initial 18 million beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

Based on a memorandum from the Office of the Executive Secretary released Monday evening, the IATF proposal to place Albay and Zamboanga City under enhanced community quarantine has been approved.

The Department of Health (DOH) has allowed travelling between ECQ and GCQ zones for those in need of urgent life-saving medical interventions.

Meanwhile, the Palace said President Duterte has let the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) decide on the franchise expiration of ABS-CBN.

The Palace encouraged the coordination between individuals and local governments before conducting charitable activities, following the arrest of former Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Sunday regarding ECQ violations.

Malacaῆang also congratulated Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle for being appointed as cardinal-bishop, the highest title for cardinals in the Roman Catholic Church. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
