‘SURIGAO CITY — Sea travel to and from Surigao and Dinagat areas have been cancelled in the wake of typhoon Paolo, the Philippine Coast Guard said.
The cancellation took effect at 5 a.m. Wednesday and will last until the weather clears, said Deputy Commander Romelito Lomat of PCG-Surigao Station.
Typhoon Paolo has brought rains and strong winds in the two provinces since Tuesday.
Although the state weather bureau PAGASA has not issued a directive to halt sea travel, Lomat said they decided to bar vessels and motor bancas from traveling because of the rough seas.
Lomat said they might allow sea voyages later Wednesday or Thursday if the weather condition improves.
