NBI arrests 2 sellers of COVID-19 test kits online

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested two individuals involved in selling illegal coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) test kits.

NBI Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division in Parañaque City arrested Shanon April Mejia and Esseline Raisa Sy Ong in their operation. The agency learned that the two suspects were selling COVID-19 test kits online despite the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) advice that only medical professionals are allowed to use the kits and a prescription is needed before purchase.

The NBI has confiscated 200 boxes of test kits amounting to PhP 2.4 million. The criminal charges are being prepared for the arrested individuals. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
