8 OFWs escape from quarantine facility

Eight Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have reportedly escaped from a quarantine facility and one of them has tested positive for the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), an OFW was quarantined in a hotel in Pasay for only 4 days and was still awaiting for his results when he escaped. The OFW has already been fetched by authorities and the PCG is conducting an investigation on how it happened.

The PCG will heavily guard the quarantined repatriated OFWs to avoid the recurrence of the incident.

Meanwhile, more than 7,000 repatriated OFWs have been given certification and clearance by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC). One cruise ship at the Manila Bay has not yet been tested.
