IATF-EID set to decide on quarantine measures for June

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) will soon release its decision on the quarantine measures to be imposed as ECQ, MECQ, and GCQ in different areas are set to expire on May 31.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said once the IATF recommendation is complete, he will present it to President Duterte. Upon approval, it will immediately be released to the public.

In Metro Manila, all mayors have earlier agreed to place the entire region under general community quarantine from the modified enhanced community quarantine.

“Ang naging factor diyan ay ekonomiya rin ng bawat siyudad. Sabi nga naghihikahos na ang ating mga LGU (The factor behind it is the economy of each city. They say our LGUs are hard up.) We need to balance economy and health,” MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia disclosed.

NTF Vice Chairperson and DILG Secretary Eduardo Aῆo said they will “raise their recommendation to the IATF” and will compare it to other analytics of experts.

Regarding education, Roque confirmed the enrolment starting June 1 will push through.

“Kinakailangan pa ring maghanda, pero kung hindi talaga aabot sa punto na nandoon tayo sa new normal na mababawasan natin ang banta sa kalusugan ng mga kabataan, hindi tayo magpi-face-to-face class at tayo po ay magkakaroon ng flexible blended learning (We need to be ready but if we do not reach the new normal where the threat on our children would be lessened, there will be no face-to-face class, and we will have flexible blended learning),” Roque explained.
