DOH says asymptomatic patients have a slim chance of transmitting virus, COVID-19 Cases now at 20,626

The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Friday the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is now at 20,626, following the reported 168 fresh cases and 76 late cases.

The DOH also recorded 82 more recoveries which increased the number to 4,330. Three more fatalities were added, bringing the death toll to 987.

The health department disclosed that asymptomatic patients have a slim chance of transmitting COVID-19.

Actual tests conducted per day has reached 10,000 which increases the testing capacity to include asymptomatic patients.

Meanwhile, the DOH has started distributing Php 1 million death benefits amounting to bereaved families of health workers who succumbed to COVID-19. Other checks have been distributed to regional offices while 10 more families in NCR are yet to receive them today.

The agency shared other families who need information on the processing of the said benefits may coordinate with the Malasakit Program Office of the DOH
