TESDA gives priority to OFWs in free trainings

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has announced that its free trainings prioritize Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are returning home, displaced, and those who have not left the country.

“Ang maganda po niyan ‘yong pwede silang magbenta.
‘Yong kanilang mga natutunang produkto, packaging, tapos kung paano po pagandahin ‘yan sa internet, itinuturo [rin] po ‘yan ng TESDA (What’s nice is that they can sell. What they learn about the products, packaging, and how to make the products appealing in the internet, TESDA teaches all those),” TESDA Deputy Director John Bertiz has stated.

TESDA has made the registration for OFWs easier through the newly-launched TESDA Mobile Application.

OFWs can also apply for online classes even if they are in other countries. If they plan to return home, TESDA is open to develop their skills and issue a TESDA certification.

The agency is currently coordinating with the private sector on downloading its courses in different establishments.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has encouraged OFWs to register through its online information system to expedite assistance in terms of transportation and livelihood. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla
