Cebu implements stricter border control restrictions

Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has ordered stricter implementation of the border control restrictions starting Friday to prevent the further spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Governor Garcia, relaxed border control is one of the reasons whythe number of cases are increasing. Employees who are residents of nearby provinces are prohibited to enter the city except those who have permission from the Cebu Provincial Government.

In relation to this, 12 barangays have undergone total lockdown and hundreds of police and military personnel have been deployed in Cebu City. Checkpoints are in place in different parts of the city to ensure the strict implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

The city of Cebu has over 5,000 COVID-19 cases, more than 2,000 have recovered and a total of 137 persons have died.

Meanwhile, the operation of the designated cluster clinics in various areas of the city for symptomatic residents is ongoing. Enough quarantine facilities have been ensured for persons with mild to moderate symptoms and barangay isolation centers for asymptomatic residents.
