President Rodrigo R. Duterte submitted his 14th weekly report to Congress despite the expiration of Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
The President relayed that the Department of Education (DepEd) is arranging the installation of internet connections for 7,000 schools in the Philippines. The project is worth Php 700 million. The DepEd aims to finish this within 10 months.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is continuously helping displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). 1,953 participants have registered with the TESDA ABOT OFW online registration.
In relation with the government’s aid, the Chief Executive stated that over Php 45 billion have been reserved for the Small Business Wage Subsidy Program. More than 3 million beneficiaries have received the first and second tranche of the said program.
President Duterte also shared that the “Free Bus Ride” program for health workers of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has helped 1.2 million individuals while more than 10,000 Filipinos have been transported under the “Libreng Sakay” program of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Moreover, the President updated that 361 patient-participants have joined the solidarity trials of the World Health Organization (WHO) that has been funded for almost Php 30 million. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
