Philippine Embassy on the Complaint against former Ambassador to ROK

The Embassy of the Philippines in Seoul received a complaint for sexual harassment against the then Philippine Ambassador to Korea in February 2020 when the latter was in Manila on official business.

The complaint was immediately referred by the Embassy to the Department of Foreign Affairs which tasked the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) to look into the allegations. Both the complainant and the Ambassador cooperated with the proceedings conducted by the investigating Committee.

The Ambassador subsequently tendered his resignation from the service effective March 16.

The Department is committed to ensuring that justice is rendered in this case. It also remains committed in cultivating and preserving a work environment where all personnel are treated with respect and dignity, and free from harassment of any kind.
