Santiago City mayor to add 2 more rooms at district jail

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — The local chief executive of this city has vowed to provide the Santiago City District jail with additional two-room jail facility.

Mayor Joseph Tan said the move seeks to ease congestion in the facility as more inmates are detained in the city district jail due to the anti-drugs campaign.

The existing facility, which can only accommodate 500 male inmates and 50 female inmates, hae 852 male inmates and 107 female inmates.

The mayor also vowed to provide personal hygiene kit to the inmates.

The city government is also helping the BJMP in providing livelihood skills training and assistance in coordination with the Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to the inmates.

He assured that the city government will continue to provide assistance to the jail facility and to inmates to help them become productive while they are incarcerated. (PNA)
