More recoveries than active COVID-19 cases in QC

Mayor Belmonte Mayor Joy Belmonte announced on Thursday that Quezon City has more recoveries from COVID-19 cases compared to active cases.

“Sixty percent po ang recovery rate sa Lungsod ng Quezon (The recovery rate for Quezon City is at 60 percent). Mula May 26 (Since May 26), we’ve already had more recovered cases than active cases here in QC,” Belmonte disclosed during a press briefing.

This is attributed to the establishment of quarantine facilities with a number of health workers looking after patients and the “special concern lockdown” areas.

“Sukat ko ang bilang dito eh. In the past two and a half weeks, nakikita ko na, ang average per day is about 140. Pero nao-offset ‘yan, kasi napakataas ng recovery rate ng Quezon City (The number here is measured. In the past two and a half weeks, I’ve seen that the average per day is about 140 but that can be offset since Quezon City has a high recovery rate),” she explained.

Belmonte admitted that their problem now concerns critical patients such as those who are undergoing dialysis. – With reports from Allan Francisco
