NTF reiterates importance of motorcycle barriers; Angkas donates barriers for frontliners

The National Task Force against COVID-19 has reiterated the importance of a motorcycle barrier in pillion-riding.

“Ang sabi nila enough na daw yung helmet at face mask kasi yung helmet may face shield din. Pero nung ni-review namin yung mga videos along the roads, ang nangyayari 20 percent o 30 percent ‘yung gumagamit ng motor after a while, tinataas ‘yung face shield. (They say that the helmet and face mask are enough since the helmet has a face shield. But when we reviewed the videos along the roads, 20 to 30% of the riders raise their face shields after a while).” Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año revealed.

He pointed out that critics should take a close look at the situation before speaking because the country is seriously facing a pandemic.

Meanwhile, the ride-hailing firm, Angkas, has donated 1,000 protective barriers to the Philippine National Police (PNP) to be distributed to medical frontliners who use motorcycles.

The program of Angkas will prioritize 10 hospitals:

Philippine General Hospital
San Lazaro Hospital
East Avenue Medical Center
Ospital ng Sampaloc
Tala Hospital
National Kidney and Transplant Institute
Ospital ng Maynila
Lung Center of the Philippines
Quirino Memorial Medical Center
Fabella Hospital
