NBI files raps vs 2 BI officers over fake travel documents

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has charged two employees of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for fabrication of the travel document of an Austrian Financier who is wanted in Germany for Wirecard fraud worth of $2.2 billion.

Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra has initially pointed out that the Austrian, Jan Marsalek, did not travel to the Philippines on the month of June and has faked his immigration data.

According to the NBI, the two immigration officers, Perry Michael Pancho and Marcus Nicodemus, have been charged with falsification of documents. Pancho is from Mactan the Cebu International Airport while Nicodemus is assigned at the NAIA Terminal 1 in Pasay City.

Based on the investigation of the NBI, no foreigners were allowed to enter on the month of June due to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. No actual scanned data page of Marsalek’s passport has been found and based on a CCTV footage, no one was manning the BI counter in Mactan Cebu Airport since no flight was available on the said date.
