DFA: 410 Filipinos Depart Lebanon Today

BEIRUT, LEBANON 16 August 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through its Embassy in Beirut, is bringing home 410 Overseas Filipinos from Lebanon today. The number includes 20 Filipinos who were injured in the aftermath of the explosion at the Port of Beirut last 04 August 2020.

“The DFA chartered flight is expected to leave Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport at 11:10 p.m. tonight,” stated DFA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Y. Arriola. “The flight will also bring home the remains of our four kababayans who perished in the blast,” the Undersecretary added.

The repatriates from Beirut will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on 17 August 2020 at 1325H on board Qatar Airways flight QR 3150.

The group is the latest batch of repatriates in the series of ongoing repatriations from the country and brings the total number of Filipinos from Lebanon to 1,918.

The DFA is also set to mount another chartered flight from Beirut, catering to those distressed Filipinos who expressed their desire to be repatriated but could not be accommodated on this flight.

“We will come back for you,” assured Undersecretary Arriola.
