Palace assures justice in Jolo shooting

Malacañang assured anew that justice will prevail in the shooting incident in Jolo, Sulu that resulted in the death of four soldiers.

“Dumaan po ito sa regular preliminary investigation. Hindi po ito dumaan sa inquest kasi wala naman po ang mga mga piskal o police investigators noong pangyayaring iyon, so dapat dadaan sa regular preliminary investigation (It has undergone preliminary investigation. It did not undergo inquest because the fiscal or police investigators were not present in the incident, so it should undergo regular preliminary investigation),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque explained.

“At iyan naman po ay statutory right ng mga akusado. Pero nangako na po no less than the President, magkakaroon po ng katarungan dito sa kasong ito (That is the statutory right of the accused. But the President has already promised that justice will be served in this case),” Roque continued.

The statement came after Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gilbert Gapay called for the immediate resolution of the case amid allegations of a cover up by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
