Psychological tests on social media go viral amid COVID-19 pandemic

Amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, online psychology tests on social media have gone viral.

In a website, 40 questions could be answered to know the level of stress, anxiety and depression of a person.

However, experts have shared their thoughts regarding the online psychological test especially when taken without the proper guidance of a doctor.

According to a psychiatrist, the situation of an individual might worsen with self-diagnosis.

“Mahirap kasi yung self-diagnosis dahil kapag ikaw ay anxious lalo na ngayon sa pandemic pwede lahat iyan maging positive sa questionnaire not unless it was administered by a psychiatrist (Self-diagnosis is hard because if you are anxious especially now that there is pandemic, it is possible that all of that will turn out positive in the questionnaire not unless it was administered by a psychiatrist),” Dr. Ma. Bernadette Arcena pointed out.

The Department of Health (DOH) has emphasized that “it is okay not to be okay”. Experts have advised to try to be thankful for the small daily blessings and to surround oneself with friends and family who are ready to listen to problems to improve one’s mental health during this time. Psychological services are also available for those who need it. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio
