No transfer of Sanchez to PGH – DOJ

The Department of Justice (DOJ) clarified that transfer of former Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) will no longer push through since “he tested negative [for COVID-19]. BuCor likewise said his condition has improved”.

Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Spokesperson Col. Gabriel Chaclag reported that Sanchez is still at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Hospital and is in “stable” condition.

Authorities assured that Sanchez gets the medical attention he needs to address his illnesses, including pneumonia and diabetes.

DOJ USec. Markk Perete earlier disclosed that Sanchez was “admitted last Monday” at the NBP Hospital and was “diagnosed to have electrolyte imbalance secondary to acute gastro enteritis, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, benign prostatic hypertrophy.”

Sanchez was convicted for the rape and killing of then college student Eileen Sarmenta and the murder of her friend Allan Gomez in 1993. – Report from Kenneth Paciente</em
