PNP assures campaign vs. illegal drugs in accordance with PH law

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reiterated its compliance with the rule of law after the United Nations accused the Philippines anew of human rights violations in its ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet urged the country to retract the implementing policies on the campaign against illegal drugs resulting to killing and violating of the human rights.

PNP Chief Police General Camilo Cascolan denied the news that the number of drug-related deaths have increased from April to July and pointed out that the institution is working in accordance with the law and following proper procedures in every operation. The PNP does not tolerate any personnel who violates human rights. Any police officer abusing power will be charged.

PGen. Cascolan initially stated that there is no extrajudicial killing in the Philippines and those who have evidences of EJKs in the country must report to the police for immediate investigation. – Report from Bea Bernardo
