PNP to carry out objectives even with no US aid

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Camilo Cascolan has assured that they will be able to properly fulfill their objectives even without assistance from the United States because they are supported by President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

This was the response of PNP Chief Cascolan after US lawmaker Pennsylvania Representative Susan Wildd filed a bill pushing for the suspension of the US security aid to the Philippines if it will not change its policy that allegedly violates human rights.

Several PNP activities that receive assistance from the US are training and schooling of their personnel, and joint military and police exercises.

The PNP Chief stated that there may be some officers who violate the law but such acts are not tolerated.

“Alam niyo naman na may kinasuhan tayong mga kapulisan. (You already know that there are some police officers charged.) The internal affairs service is actually focusing on all of this. A lot of those who violated human rights and did not follow the rule of law were actually punished.” – Report from Bea Bernardo
