PNP all set to assist students, parents as school year opens

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to provide assistance for distance learning in line with the opening of the academic year.

PNP Chief PGen. Camilo Cascolan said police visibility and patrolling will be strengthened to ensure a safe and organized school year amid the health crisis.
Police assistance centers will be established in barangays with at least two police personnel each to address the concerns of parents.

The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) will also conduct monitoring for possible violations in cyberspace, especially cyberbullying cases, amid the longer time exposure of students on the internet.

Meanwhile, Cascolan clarified that going to computer and internet shops is not prohibited, especially for students who have problems with internet connectivity as long as health protocols are strictly observed.

The PNP is also looking for other alternatives to prevent students from resorting to computer shops. The PNP is set to coordinate with the Department of Education (DepEd) on the matter.
