DOJ to hasten destruction of confiscated illegal drugs

The Department of Justice (DOJ) will take action to hasten the destruction of confiscated illegal drugs in response to the directive of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

According to the DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra, the department will issue “a memo circular to all prosecutors investigating drug cases to give top priority to the resolution of the same.”

He added that the charges must be filed with the court immediately and “to move for a court order to conduct ocular inspection of and destroy the seized drugs, precursors, etc., within the time specified in RA 9165”.
