Angeles City PESO holds jobs fair

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Hundreds of job seekers flocked to the annual jobs fair of the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) Angeles at Robinson’s Place Balibago here, Tuesday.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in Pampanga, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

PESO-Angeles officer-in-charge Maria Rosa Teodora Basilio said the career expo is PESO’s way of helping out the job aspirants not only in the city, but also the Kapampangans from nearby towns applying for decent work.

Meanwhile, League of Cities of the Philippines president, Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, lauded the organizing committee for their dedication in providing the people with opportunity to achieve their dream jobs.

“I am thankful of the PESO and the support of their partners for holding the yearly jobs fair. This gives the people a chance of a decent employment,” Pamintuan said.

Basilio, for her part, said that “the conduct of jobs fairs has been successful in achieving PESO’s goal of lobbying for employment opportunities, both local and overseas, to thousands of Angeleños.”

As of this writing, participating companies are yet to give reports to PESO-Angeles on how many job seekers were hired, some of them on the spot, while some have been qualified for interviews.

The jobs fair is part of the city’s month-long celebration of “Fiestang Kuliat”. (PNA)
