The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has vowed that there will be no more “Marawi Siege” happening again in the Philippines as it celebrated the 3rd anniversary of the liberation of Marawi City.
The AFP has honored the soldiers who lost their lives in the war against the terrorist groups that wreaked havoc in Marawi. Officials and personnel have also been duly recognized for their great contribution in the attainment of freedom in the country’s largest Islamic city.
AFP Chief of Staff General Gilbert Gapay has disclosed that the Maute group is currently “leaderless” with limited movements.
In relation with this, the AFP Chief has lauded the creation of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Anti-Terrorism Law. He has affirmed that it will help in the implementation of the law to stop terrorism in the country.
“It gives us the legal clout to really undertake a more pro-active counter-terrorism measures.”
