PBA referee tests negative for COVID-19

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) bubble referee who was earlier suspected of testing positive has turned out negative for COVID-19.

According to the administration of the PBA, the RT-PCR test result of the referee arrived Sunday, October 25.

Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and testing czar Vince Dizon stated that the referee will still need to complete the quarantine at the Athletes’ village before returning to the Quest hotel.

In relation with this, the PBA has also reported that “the RT-PCR test taken by the Blackwater player Sunday yielded a negative result. He also tested negative on antigen yesterday.”

The association stated that the PBA bubble remains “intact and has not been breached.”

According to the Department of Health (DOH), no conclusion can still be given until the lab details such as CT value of the patients have been probed. The antigen test is only used for the symptomatic, suspects, and probable. The department has also reminded to be careful in interpreting tests as false positive or false negative.
