Billons-worth of damages logged in CamSur, State of Calamity declared

A State of Calamity has been declared for the entire Province of Camarines Sur amid the extensive damage wrought by super typhoon Rolly.

“Malaking tulong ito. Una, pagdating sa pagpapadali ng pag-mobilize ng ating iba’t ibang ahensya para makatulong sa ating relief and building back better efforts sa Camarines Sur (This will be of great help. First, it will expedite the mobilization of various agencies to help in our relief and building back better efforts for Camarines Sur),” Estel Estropia of the CamSur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) stated.

Camarines Sur PDRRMO partial damage report on super typhoon Rolly show that approximately 251,000 families or 1,025,770 individuals were affected by the calamity.

The worth of infrastructure damage in the province ballooned to ₱1.9 billion while the cost of agricultural damage reached ₱770,989,443. Damage to fisheries sector is worth ₱13,303,533 and livestock at ₱5,399,840.

“Right after typhoon Rolly, siguro mga around 1 p.m., nagsisimula na po rito sa CamSur ‘yung clearing operations natin (Right after typhoon Rolly, maybe around 1 p.m., clearing operations in CamSur started),” Estropia reported.

“Bukod po roon, immediately, the next day after ni Rolly, nagsimula na iyong relief distribution natin doon sa pinaka-apektadong areas sa Camarines Sur (Aside from that, relief distribution in the most affected areas of CamSur immediately started the next day after Rolly),” Estropia added. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
